Thanks for all the great questions!
In case you haven't already seen the first journal with a few answers, just click on this motionbooktool.deviantart.com/… to check them out!
To augment our first round of answers, here are a few more answers to recent questions:
Q1) Will users have to have coding knowledge/experience?
A1) Not at all! The tool is actually really simple for anyone to use with a great user interface (that we are refining as I write these words to make even better)!
Q2) Will the user be able to drop in sound assets, music, and sound effects into the motion books?
A2) Yes, it is very easy to implement .mp3 files with any sound you like and trigger them where you want in the story! You can also adjust volume intensity in the MBT, looping, and fade in / fade out of either a loop or a single play through of your sound.
Q3) If I were to go ahead and start drawing my comic, are there any technical aspects to my approach that could help me prepare to integrate with the motion book technology?
A3) Yes.
1) When creating your art, think in terms of Background, Midground, and Foreground layers and develop these elements as complete pieces. That will make it easier later to apply effects that move elements in a panel in relation to each other. If you plan for that in advance, you won't need to cut elements of your art later and re-draw backgrounds where elements were removed.
2) More info on file types are coming, but the common type we use for images are .png files. You can also have .png files with transparent pixels.
3) We usually work in a full canvas resolution of at least 2048 x 1536 or larger with source art. Most of the time we'll create the art larger. Remember, you can always scale your art down easily if you create it too big, but you can't scale art up very easily if it is created too small.
Q4) Can the user upload their own fonts?
A4) Yes, you will be able to upload fonts to use as live text in the tool.
Please keep the questions coming!
Stay tuned to this group and we'll keep you informed on the 'how-s' and 'when-s' as the development completes!
Thanks!

Files sizes and the reader performance
File size does matter to a certain extent in how your book will perform in the reader.
Pages with lots of assets that have large file sizes may tend to slow down in the reader or take a little while to load.
The best rule of thumb is to try to keep the file sizes of your assets as low as possible without affecting the quality of the asset.
For images, use a .png for any image that contains transparent pixels (such as a character cut out of it's environment).
Use a .jpg for any image that does not contain any transparent pixels (such as a background image). Where a .png may be 2 or 3 megabytes in size, that same image will be about 500k a

Rip open your skull and publish into your brain
Look, let's just get this out of the way once and for all...
WE ALL LOVE PRINT!
I mean - we REALLY REALLY REALLY love print!
Nobody - NO-BO-DY! - wants to kill print. Not Madefire, not deviantART, not any other digital art, comic or literature provider. That isn't the point of digital at all! That conversation should be forced to stand in a corner with a dunce hat on, because it really is THAT dumb and isn't worth our time. Don't look at it. Don't talk to it. And definitely don't feel sorry for it! It's a trolling meme and doesn't have a worthy or generous thought in it's very small brainpan. It's an evil little turd with a mean spirit and
Thank you
Dear all,
Thank you hugely for your patience. We are acutely aware of the passing of time - So much has happened! - and we need you to know we've not forgotten about you or gone anywhere. It IS all still happened, only it's going to be bigger and better than we had ever hoped, and the scale of things has slowed us down.
We appreciate the enthusiasm you have shared with us - we're pretty over-whelmed by it actually. There's so much interest in using the tools that we had to doubly prepare ourselves and make sure the tool is best-in-show. We've added a whole bunch of new functionality based on feedback, and are gearing up to meet the huge dem

Hello! I'm trying to upload a page to my Deviantart account, but when I try to do that in Madefire I keep getting the "bad gateway" message. Am I doing something wrong? Are the severs down? How do I fix this?
