5 months later and still no news or date when its available to us. Can someone at least tell us what the hold up is? I would even pay but we were told it would be free for us.... about 5 months ago.

Chrismar78 do you have any idea what it takes to take a piece of software and make it Idiot Proof! Or should I say User Friendly!??? Didn't think so! and neither do I for that matter.

What I do know is you would be much better off spending your time honing your skillz instead of coming on here every day, getting disappointed and throwing some kind of ADHD rant and bashing a company and its people that you most definitely know nothing about.

Your forgetting one key factor that you have mentioned several times in your post!  FREE  !

If you cannot WAIT then go spend $400.00 on something you wont know how to use and stop bashing Madefire in there own group man.

Peace :)

Wow... and you end with peace....Dude calm down. Take a drink of some water and take a nap. Its not that big a deal, but I would say if a company makes a promise to anyone they should simply stand by it and if not then say something like: hey guys the software is taking a lot longer than we expected for development, its not going to come out as soon as it was anticipated. Thats good marketing and communication with customers and users. Who ever is in charge of this aspect is seriously not understanding how to do business. And I dont come here every day. Also, I think posted like 5 times.  And actually there is a company that makes the product for only $60. Motion Artist from Microsmith. BTW I am familiar with User interface development (information architecture), a little javascript, ActionScript 3.0, flash development, and I have a degree in web development as well. So to answer you question, yes I do know what it takes. I have built several web sites and have a little app creation experience. It does not take this long if you know what you are doing. Im thinking there is more of a - how do we make money on this going on, that we dont know about, because ultimately nothing is for free. They are probably working out how to profit from it with DA which makes sense. Im pretty sure its ready since many others are making comics with it  now including IDW publishing. I think that the most frustrating part of it. While many others are being added to the use of the tool, we are not, when were promised we would. This will be my last post. I'll be honing my skills and purchasing Motion Artist and you can wait happily another 15 months! Good day sir! My last post for this group. :)

Hi Chrismar78,

A lot of your comment here is very fair, we have taken longer than we'd like to get the Motion Book Tool into your hands... there is nothing untoward going on - we just want to make sure its in good shape - and robust when you use it. We (Madefire) have been publishing off it for 18 months years - refining as we go - learning how to improve it and constantly iterating.

In terms of making money, our goal has always been - and remains - to make the Motion Book Tool free to creators. The way we intend to make money is to take a small proportion of any sales of Motion Books - that is IF you decide to charge for your Motion Book creation - that's up to you. We have had publishers using the system to establish what's possible and stress test it - again we've learnt and refined...

I think we're taking a fundamentally different approach to other software producers; from an engineering perspective Our Motion Book tool is created in the browser (rather than a download for desktop) this makes it unique - it can be properly integrated into the dA online community, and people can build Motion Books together via browser... this is hard to 'tool'... on top of this as a group we're personally passionate about storytelling and publish on our own tools - we've built Madefire 'for creators'.

Probably enough information from me!

My apologies this reply comes so late - we have been super focussed on building all things Motion Books but it is remiss of me not to have kept a keen eye on these comments personally.

Ultimately thank you for caring enough to urge us on! I hope you'll create an awesome Motion Book here very soon!

Regards
Ben (co-founder Madefire)

I appologize if I seemed a little harsh this is not the place for it and dont stop posting on my behalf, we will prolly never know what the hold up is, if there even is one. For all we know its just one guy working on the project, says he wheres a lot of hats lol.

You and I should Collab a comic, you be the Villan and I the hero!  Jk

Good day sir! ;) (Wink)

No worries. I'll admit I was being a disgruntled weenie. Come to think of it, I usually get annoyed with people that complain about stuff when they are getting it for free. (not that I got anything yet but...) I just thought about it later and im sure im not the only one complaining. After letting everyone know it was coming out for free, im sure it might be a headache at this point for Madefire dealing with us asking when is it coming out over and over. You have a good one!

I thought it was 5 months but I think you are right this was announced way longer than that. I like the medium and the books seem cool but not the company. They should not advertise a free product if they arent going to provide it or provide a date when it will be released. Im not buying any of the books just because of this. And I do buy digital comics!
